Q1: How (and when) did you begin your career as a VTES-player? Who introduced you to the game? Where did you play originally? It started back in 1994. A couple of the guys in our roleplaying group were playing Spellfire. My friend & I were at the store buying cards, when we saw that a new card game based on Vampire: The Masquerade had just come on the market. We enjoyed the roleplaying game, so decided to give it a go. Suffice to say that we never played Spellfire again. |
Q2: Which of the Sets and Expansions to VTES is your favorite, and why is it your top choice? I should probably say Nights of Reckoning but deep down I'm a pretty simple guy and so I'll say Cam Ed. Many of my favourite vampires come out of this set and most of my favorite cards. I enjoy the other sets but at the end of the day, I keep coming back. |

Q3: What is your favorite deck to play, and why? I call it "The Quiet Achiever". It was the first deck I ever won a tournament with and I played it pretty much every chance I got for 18 months. It became part of my VTES persona. After using it to win the Australian Champs in 2005 I decided to retire it. But it still calls to me... http://www.freewebs.com/outback295/quietachieverdeck.htm |
Q4: If you could add something to the game, what would it be? More stealth. Disciplineless stealth would definitely make the game more unpredictable, as would a stealth location. Unpredictablity is what make's VTES the great game it is. I'd also like to see a World Championship of VTES. Obviously there are logistical issues with doing it face to face, but maybe the Continental Champions could play online at the end of each year to crown the World Champ? |
|
Q5: What do you do to help promote the game / why are you in this list of people? Apart from helping to run fortnightly games I also maintain a website for Vtes in Sydney http://www.freewebs.com/outback295 |
Q6: What is your favorite deck style for casual play / tournament play? Tournament play - Toolbox decks with a propensity to lunge. I like the flexibility a toolbox gives you but to do well in tournament play, you have to be able to oust. Casual play - I avoid anything too unfriendly although I rarely play decks that are inherently uncompetetive, even in casual games. I'm pretty conservative with my deck construction so nothing really wacky. |

Q7: Is there a difference between your casual play and tournament play? Not really. I play to win regardless of the game. Of course, in casual play things are more casual... |
